Month of Rajab

Praise be to Allaah Who says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And your Lord creates whatsoever He wills and chooses” [al-Qasas 28:68]. The attribute of choosing or selecting is indicative of His Lordship and Oneness, and of the perfection of His Wisdom, Knowledge and Power.

One aspect of His choosing and preferring is the fact that He has chosen some days and months and given them preference over others. Among the months, Allaah has chosen four which He has made sacred, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, the number of months with Allaah is twelve months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allaah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein…” [al-Tawbah 9:36]

The newspaper said that the committee was composed of head of the municipal council Nir Barakat, his deputy, the head of the planning and construction committee, the rabbi in charge of the Buraq wall, and representatives of Zionist companies.

It was a appreciable work.

Perhaps someone may get surprised as to how is it possible to have the love of Allah and His Rasul (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) more than every other thing and even if it is possible then only three four persons in the world must be having it, which in turn means that whole world is without Imaan. Research scholars (of Islam) have answered this question differently, but I say that this wealth (of this grade of Iman) is in the possession of every muslim, even those having lowest grade of Iman. Test for it is that if the son or wife etc.,of a person [a person usually loves most (apparently) his son, wife etc.,] abuses Allah or His Messenger (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in his presence, he will never tolerate it and will try to take revenge from them with whatever means available to him. If this person was not having love with Allah and His Messenger (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) of such grade then from where was this effervescence generated and how that love of his beloved (son, wife etc) got weakened or subdued. Thus it became clear that love of Allah and His Messenger (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) of such grade is found in every muslim. Thanks to Almighty Allah for the same.

Pakistan establishes Muslim Facebook

Pakistan has established an alternative to Facebook after the website was banned for hosting a sacrilegious cartoon contest about Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

MillatFacebook helps connect users to 1.57 billion Muslims as well as what it describes as "sweet people from other religions."

It also aims to offer an alternative to a site that has been criticized for its confusing privacy controls, NDTV reported.

Thousands of people demonstrated in Pakistan on May 19 to protest against a Facebook page that encouraged users to post images of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH.)

The Pakistani government ordered Internet service providers to block Facebook after a group of Islamic lawyers won a court order requiring Pakistan to block the US-based social networking site until May 30.

The status of abortion in Islam

Saturday, 29 Jamadil Akhir 1431
Saturday, 12 June 2010 10:54

Many Muslims in World and elsewhere, raise the question of abortion in Islam. Sometimes misinformation is worse than ignorance. It is therefore useful to shed some light on this issue from an Islamic perspective.Humans are the most favoured creation of the Creator, Allah (s.w.t): "And indeed We have honoured the children of Adam, carried them on land and sea, gave them lawful, pure provisions, and greatly preferred them above many of those We have created." (Al-Isra,17:70) Among these signs of Allah’s favour on the children of Adam, is the sacred value Allah (s.w.t) assigns to the life of a human being. When that value was violated with the first unlawful murder of a human being on earth, when one of Adam’s sons killed his own brother out of malice, Allah (s.w.t) condemned that act and put it on record in the Quran as a reminder, to be recited until the Day of Judgement.Allah (s.w.t) went even further, making unlawful killing of a single individual human being equal to mass murder of the whole of mankind: "Because of that, We ordained for the children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation for murder or for spreading mischief on earth, it would be as if he killed all mankind. And who saved a life, it would be as if he saved all mankind." (Al-Maidah,5:32)

The death toll from the Israeli navy's takeover of a Gaza aid convoy has risen to 20 while Israel carefully censors reports on the casualties from the attack.

Gaza Freedom Flotilla came under fire early on Monday by Israeli navy forces in international waters more than 150km (90 miles) off the coast of Gaza.

The six-ship aid fleet was soon stormed by commandos descending from helicopters.

Freedom of Expression?

With the latest in-your-face act of the Facebook, the issue is once again attracting headlines. Should Muslims react? How should they react? Where do they stand on the philosophical issue underlying all this?

In the media the issue has been framed as a clash between two camps. One camp stands for freedom of expression. The other wants to curtail it.  Needless to say the first camp is enlightened and virtuous. The other is a relic of the dark ages. The clash in other words is between a civilized and civilizing West and Islam that just refuses to be civilized.
